Pelicana

My bestie and I had a girls day here, and this place was really spacious with natural lighting! Service was friendly and quick. We got the 18 pieces wings with sauce to share and it was huge. They can’t do half and half sauces here but the waiter recommended soy and it was super flavorful and yummy! I definitely have not had soy like this in any other kfc place. It’s super crispy and aromatic. Comes with a side of shredded cabbage with mayo marinade. We also shared the rosé tteokbokki, which is pretty creamy so def recommend pairing it with another dish but it was also tasty! Definitely gonna come back as im craving the soy wings hehe. They also sell merch like blind boxes and kpop merch too!

We ordered extra crispy signature and honey garlic flavored wings. Smoky hot sauce was also ordered on the side to dip and it was great. The chicken was crispy without being overly greasy or breaded. I loved the pickled radish, too. I didn’t love the peli shaken fries because of the sweetness, but they’d probably be much better fresh at the restaurant. The mochi donut was tasty. I think out of all 3 flavors I tried, the honey garlic was my favorite, but it’s really hard to decide!

Great restaurant, family friendly, clean, and most importantly their food is fantastic. My fiancé and I devoured 9 crispy wings (sauce on the side) and an order of rosé tteokkbokki. The wings were delicious, so good they didn’t even need any sauce. We did try some of the signature sauce and it was good but too sweet for our liking, next time we’ll likely try garlic or honey soy sauce instead. The rosé tteokkbokki was very filling and unique. Our server Kang was very polite and attentive, thank you and I would like to apologize on behalf of my fiancé not being able to use chopsticks sufficiently, I appreciate you grabbing her a fork. We’ll be back again as soon as her finger dexterity improves and she can use chopsticks appropriately, just kidding we’ll be back way before then, that task may take her decades.

Great Korean fried chicken restaurant in the heart of Bellaire. They have all the classic options and sauces and the quality of the meat is excellent. It’s on the pricier side but about the same as other Korean fried chicken spots in Houston. The standout quality of the chicken is how juicy the actual meat of the chicken is. The sauce we had, honey soy, was a bit on the heavy side, so I’ll be interested to try their other flavors in the future (unfortunately only 1 flavor per basket). The seating inside is limited, not sure how hush it gets but we were able to be seated immediately. Overall a good Korean fried chicken spot and good addition to the area.

A very delicious korean fried chicken restaurant in chinatown. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the flavor was amazing. We also try the cheese ball and truffle fries which was also great. Definitely be back to try more items.

I ordered the chili sauce flavor, and it was seriously spicy—spicier than most Sichuan dishes! The chicken was juicy and fresh, and the $18 portion was more than enough to fill me up. Overall, a satisfying meal!

Best fried chicken ever! The crunch is amazing and the flavor is awesome! The wings are huge so you definitely get your moneys worth! Get the honey soy flavor it’s sooooo good

Pelicana is always on our list when traveling to SoCal. I was happily surprised when we found out that they were opening in Houston. We dined during soft opening week and kept our expectations low. Here is how our experience fared. Service - super personable with owners and staff checking to ensure that everything was done right. This may change once they get busy so it was nice to be able to provide input on how we like our dishes. 9 of 10. Korean style chicken - almost perfect. The chicken came out hot and crispy. We ordered the honey soy original fried, half chicken order. Chicken was juicy and the honey soy wasn't too sweet, exactly how we like it. 9 of 10. Loved it so much that we placed another order; which was the signature original fried wings. They were a little more drenched in sauce than we preferred but did not impact the overall flavor and crispiness. Flavor is not too sweet with a little heat, which can go all the way to level three. It tastes like basic Korean flavor you would expect for this genre of food. 8 of 10 French Fries - exactly how we like them. Crispy without being overly fried. 9 of 10 Fried Korean Donuts - first time trying these and they were good. A little chewy like moo-chi donuts. 8.5 of 10 Fried cheese balls - light and crispy with a slight sweet flavor that compliments the cheese. 9 of 10 Overall, as good as the best Pelicana establishments in SoCal. A strong 8.8 out of 10 for this week. Round up to 5 stars as there are no half star options. Pleasantly friendly for a Korean restaurant. It is advertised that the cooking oil is changed everyday and it shows. Can't wait to come back. Hoping they can maintain this level of service and quality of food after their grand opening for the weekend of May 4th. 5/2/2024 - Came back a second time this week. The owners and kitchen continue fine tune base on soft opening feedback. They are some of the nicest people that are working to perfect the food for us Houstonian. So happy that Houston finally gets an establishment like this. Overall score of a 9.1 out of 10.
